Though it may not have a Supercenter, according to Walmart’s corporate listings, the Aloha State isn’t completely lacking in locations for the retailer. As of August, there are 10 regular Walmart discount stores and two Sam’s Clubs (which is run by Walmart) in operation on the islands. And while Hawaii may be without the largest format outlet of the mega-retailer, there are a few states that are not far behind. Vermont has the second-lowest, with just three Supercenters in the state; tiny Rhode Island has the third-tiniest count with just five locations; and Delaware is home to the fourth-lowest count of Supercenters in the nation with just six locations. So which state in the U.S. is home to the most Walmart Supercenters? It may come as no surprise that Texas has the highest count, with a whopping 392 open for business all across the Lone Star State. Walmart Supercenters are so coveted because they’re often close to double the size (around 182,000 square feet compared to 106,000 for a traditional Walmart store); their grocery section includes fresh produce, a bakery, a deli, and dairy products; and, best of all, they are usually open 24 hours a day.
